Rooted in Relationship: Earth Month and Learning from the Trees
Every April, Earth Month invites us to reflect on our connection with the natural world. And while planting a tree or picking up litter is a beautiful gesture, we believe this moment calls us to go deeper.
At Wild Tree Woodworks, we hold a simple truth at the heart of our craft: we are of the Earth. We don’t just work with trees—we are in relationship with them. Every board we shape, every joint we join, is a dialogue with the living world. Trees teach us patience, resilience, and reciprocity. They root us in place and time.
We are especially fortunate to live among towering forests, vibrant watersheds, and deeply rooted communities. This region reminds us daily of what it means to live in relationship with land, with people, and with purpose.
This month, while many people plant trees (and we encourage that!), we also invite a broader reflection:
What does it mean to live in harmony with the Earth, every day?
To us, it means:
Honoring the full life cycle of the materials we use
Sourcing materials in ways that support forest health and local ecosystems
Designing with intention: creating structures that are built to last, to be loved, and to be passed down
Staying rooted in place, connected to the people and places that surround us
When we live this way, we remember: being in right relationship with trees isn’t just an environmental ethic. It’s a way of being human. It’s how we come back into relationship with ourselves, with each other, and with the land we call home.
This Earth Month, and every month, we invite you to join us in listening to the wisdom of the trees.
They’ve been guiding us all along.
