The Perch
Design/Build: Wild Tree Woodworks
Woodinville, Washington
After moving to the Pacific Northwest from New York City, Stephanie and Adrian had promised their three kids a treehouse. Their new home featured a large yard with a small grouping of native trees in the center: a Douglas-fir and a two-stem Madrona. Everyone agreed this would be the perfect perch for a treehouse!
Stephanie and Adrian desired a small treehouse just for the kids, featuring a modest deck, a tin roof, and reclaimed windows. David drew up a design that hit all the marks.
Unfortunately, the aging Madrona seemed to be suffering in the landscaped environment. Our go-to consulting arborists — Tree Solutions — inspected the Madrona and recommended removal of some lawn and the addition of mulch. Stephanie had this work done and we were ready to begin construction.
The December build was slowed by a snow storm and an ice storm, but otherwise the build went smoothly. We even sourced reclaimed Redwood siding from Good Wood in Portland, one of our favorite suppliers.
“It was an absolute pleasure working with everyone from Wild Tree Woodworks, from the initial consult and design phase, all the way to the final build. Our family couldn’t be happier with the finished product and we look forward to playing, sleeping, and hanging out in the treehouse for years and years to come!“
