Twin Leaf Treehouse

Design/Build:  Wild Tree Woodworks

Bellingham, Washington

Our clients Carlee & Mark had purchased a treed parcel, and on it they desired to build a treehouse. Maintaining the wildness of the land was a first directive. To this end, Wild Tree agreed to design and develop the entire project, from design and permitting to the initial ground work and through to the finishing woodwork.

One grove of eight trees was perfect for supporting a large treehouse. The design development went smoothly, David working with Mark & Carlee to add details and specifications to the initial concepts. The trees themselves provided the initial design constraints, and we included views of the lake and a single-pitch roof requirement.

Though within eyesight of Lake Samish, the parcel did not have rights to pull drinking water from the lake. Instead, rainwater is collected from the roof of the treehouse and nearby shed. The rainwater is stored in three 3,000-gallon tanks and returned to the treehouse for use via a multi-step UV filtration system and pump. Poetically, the process allows visitors to drink the rain that has fallen through the trees at that place.

Featuring a full kitchen, bathroom with tiled shower, two bedrooms, and a sleeping loft, this fully permitted, single-family residence is available for short-term rental here via Airbnb.

We highly recommend Wild Tree Woodworks! We had a vision that we didn't think was attainable and they made it happen. They know what they are doing. The team is funny, kind and hard-working and a pleasure to interact with.
