The Home Office

We consider this one of our more successful builds for a great family. In the end, everyone got what they needed!

Seth knew he had the perfect group of trees. Two mature Douglas-fir and two Western Red Cedar stood in his side yard, and Seth could envision his three children playing in a treehouse suspended between these trees. He could also imagine himself in the treehouse, working remotely on his desktop PC.

David met with Seth and his wife Jen, and together they refined the vision. The treehouse would be cozy and functional, featuring a play loft, a reading nook, a closet, and a built-in desk. We would insulate the entire structure and run electricity from the nearby home. The exterior would feature custom-milled cedar, a sizable deck (offering peek-a-boo views of a nearby lake), a fire pole, and swings below.

Carpenters Johannes, Ben, and Holly toughed-out the wintertime build, working through rain and snow. They built insulated windows and they refurbished old ones. Barry Patterson contributed handmade stained glass. Ballard Forge built a steel loft ladder and the reclaimed interior wall paneling came from GoodWood in Portland.

“Light fixtures are up and everything looks great.  Thanks again for doing such a nice job.  I know our family will make a lot of happy memories out here.”
